style: how to pull off the blazer and jeans look

We like to talk about style on Wednesdays here at invisibleblog.com. Not too long ago you could not go outside without seeing a brother in a sports jersey. High school kids, college kids and all too often grown men were rocking very expensive throwback jerseys at every occasion. We believe, thankfully, that Jay-Z helped usher out this fashion by proclaiming that he did not wear jerseys because he was “30+.” Suddenly, jerseys disappeared from the fashion landscape only to be replaced with gaudy, cheap made “button ups” better known to most people in their normal form as dress shirts.
Soon thereafter, brothers started wearing blazers with their shirts in casual settings. Things are moving in the right direction. This look had been around for sometime and if done properly can look quite good. Men’s Flair has a few pointers about pulling this look off properly. Here are a few tips of our own as well:
- Unless you are an entertainer, no baseball cap
- Unless you are an entertainer, no “Jesus piece”
- Jeans can be loose but not incredibly baggy
- Do not tuck your shirt in, many brands (see Thomas Pink) actually make shirts that look nice when untucked
- Wear nice, preferably non-white designer sneakers, if you must wear sneakers
Have any advice of your own? Let us hear about it in the comments. - IM

Don’t put on a blazer just because you own one. If anyone’s been paying attention to the trend in men’s fashion over the past few years, one blazer doesn’t match your whole wardrobe. I’d like to advise your readers to either not wear the same blazer everytime they go out, or in the name of versatility, go out and get about 3 or 4 more blazers, players!

Gotta say that I have never been a large fan of this look. But that is just me. To each their own.
But, if it must be done, I think this looks much better when taken toward to the more casual side of things. Only advice I have would be working button holes on the jacket. Open more than one, maybe even roll up slightly.
